Robert H. Treman State Park, Tompkins County, NY
This is one of my favorite NY State Parks. It has a 5 mile loop that has an elevation change of over 900 feet so you get quite a nice workout if you do the full hike. Like many of the fingerlake parks, there is a beautiful gorge with lots of waterfalls.
The lower section of the park has cabins, campgrounds and a swimming area at the base of Lower Falls, also called Enfield Falls.
The upper section of the park has an old grist mill and a large picnic area. It's also where I usually start my hikes because the upper part of the park has the most dramatic entrance to the gorge with all the beautiful CCC work that was done with paths and steps built into the rock walls of the gorge. There's a map at the start of the upper trailheads pointing you to either the Rim Trail or the Gorge Trail.
The gorge portion of the park is closed in the winter (that's the bulk of the park) because all the freezing and thawing loosens rocks which causes a "falling rock" hazard. But there are some areas open and you can still see some beautiful scenery.
