About This Site

This site is the landing area for the domain "somewhereintheus.com",
one of a number of personal domains currently
leased and managed by Greg Howard who resides in Ithaca, NY with his husband Bill
and two adopted dogs - Barney (our beagle) and Freddy (our rat terrier).
I originally created this domain back in 2004 when I embarked on a cross country road trip to visit National Parks, as well as, friends and colleagues along the way. I had intended to create a website to post pictures of my journey so people could follow along as I traveled the US and see the places that I was visiting as I visited them. Alas, I never got things up and running before/during my trip but I figured that it's never too late to share some of my photos and re-live memories of the places I've been. Note that on each main page of this website you'll see my trusty Mazda Protege 5 in the banner/header section that took me on my cross country journey in different parks/settings. It's since been replaced by a Ford Escape which has taken us on new adventures. On specific park or venue pages the banner/header photo will be a featured photo from that destination. If you hover over the photo it should tell you where the photo was taken. Oh, and since my 2004 trip I've been to other parks (national, state and local), as well as, other points of interest (cities, museums, botanic gardens, etc) that I'll be including as destinations I've explored. You'll see them added at some point to the "destinations" page, but it's going to take a while to get everything uploaded and accessible via this website because there's an awful lot of places visited and photos taken. So I hope you enjoy seeing some of the places I've been to and enjoyed. Click the "destinations" link above to get started.
